Color analysis with a friend

Most of my clients come for color analysis alone. In that case, the experience is always very personal and sometimes you could even say therapeutic. You can also come to my color analysis alone, for example with your spouse or relative, or in a group of three/four people, for example among friends.

Of course, a group of two or more can have very profound and touching color analysis experiences, but the personalization inevitably decreases a bit when I focus on several clients instead of one.

In this blog post, I will reveal what thoughts two-person color analyses between friends have awakened in me.

Color analysis with a friend

When you come to a color analysis with a friend, for example, the experience can be very different than in a personal color analysis. There you get to interact with both me and your friend and see the effects of the fabrics on both of their faces.

Sitting in front of a mirror with no makeup, your hair covered, and all the lights focused on you can feel vulnerable or tense. At the very least, it's a very different situation than anything you've ever been in.

As a color consultant, I stare very closely at your face in the mirror. A friend sits next to me, looking at you with excitement. All three of us see the same thing, but in the excitement of those first few seconds, we may experience the situation completely differently.

You may see your lines or blemishes in the mirror. I, standing behind you, only see your pure, gorgeous face. Excited excitement takes over my body; very soon we will get to see your pure, natural beauty and the magnificence of how you come out in true colors! I can't wait!

I see how your friend looks at you with tenderness and pride. I see how he smiles at you in encouragement. It is something so beautiful that I am moved even as I write this. If only we always saw ourselves through the eyes of our loved ones, we would never think anything bad about ourselves.

As the color analysis progresses, we all eventually relax. Laughter, enthusiasm and insights surface. Sometimes memories from the past can come to mind: "Do you remember when you wore a dress in that exact color at the senior dance and we thought how amazing you looked in it?" Or sometimes there was explosive laughter when we remembered a festival and how sick someone looked in a hoodie borrowed from a stranger... but now it turned out that it was the color that did it!

I get a small taste of these life-size stories and I'm incredibly grateful for it. Finally, when we get to the best colors, a happy and even more enthusiastic chatter begins, for example about how great a friend would be at a party next summer in this or that color.

The friendliness of the customers makes me feel sensitive.

In color analyses for two people, I first look for a result for both of them, after which we go through the color palette together. You might think that whoever gets to the bench first would have to be more patient.

I personally feel that the first person to sit on the bench has to be more moderate, because when they get their own color palette in their hands, we already start analyzing their friend. Up until now, everyone has nicely put their own colors aside; colors they have been waiting for a long time, maybe even decades! They focus on their friend's color analysis, emptying their minds of their own colors for a moment.

This is very moving as a color consultant and bystander. The way my clients treat their friends is so beautiful and respectful. In that moment I am a professional color consultant, but in the evening when I think about the color analysis or write them an email, I cannot help but cry. The kindness of people towards each other is what most often moves me the most.

Sometimes it happens that your own result is a disappointment or a shock. In these situations, the support of a friend is incredible. Maybe you already knew, or now at least you understand, that my color analysis is not just the season of the year as a result, but it is a comprehensive experience and thrill. Sometimes a very personal burden or joy that has been on the way for years. My clients get answers and explanations. Sometimes we dive deep and sometimes not so much, but in any case, colors evoke emotions. Fortunately, no colors are taken away from you, but more are brought.

This article also applies in many respects to color analyses for sisters or even mother-daughter pairs. Every color analysis for two people has been a wonderful experience, both for me and for my clients.
